Rose, hibiscus, and cinnamon: what's inside Self Love Oil.

Hold the bottle up to the light and you'll see them: whole rose buds, hibiscus petals, a cinnamon stick, a small pink stone. Every one is there on purpose. Here's why.

Why we put whole botanicals in the bottle

Most body oils are finished before they reach you. Self Love Oil isn't. The base is jojoba oil, chosen because it closely mimics your skin's own natural oils, and the botanicals stay in the bottle for its whole life, slowly steeping the way tea leaves steep in water.

This old method is called infusion. Day by day, the rose buds, hibiscus, lavender, and cinnamon release their scent and character into the jojoba. The oil you pour in week three is a little deeper than the oil you poured on day one. And because every bud and petal is placed by hand, no two bottles are ever quite the same. Yours is the only one exactly like it.

Rose buds: the heart of the bottle

Roses have stood for love and care in almost every culture that grew them, for thousands of years. Rose water and rose-infused oils appear in beauty rituals from ancient Persia to your great-grandmother's dressing table. There's a reason the tradition never faded: the scent is delicate, floral, and quietly luxurious, and it makes an everyday moment feel tended to.

We use whole dried buds rather than loose petals. They hold their shape, release their fragrance slowly, and look the way they smell: soft and unhurried.

Hibiscus: the gentle one

Hibiscus, a gentle botanical infused into the oil.

Hibiscus is the flower you know from teas and warm-climate gardens, and it has a long history in skincare across Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. In the bottle it plays a soft supporting role: a soothing, gentle botanical that deepens the floral character of the infusion and gives the oil part of its warm color.

Where rose leads with fragrance, hibiscus works quietly in the background. Together they make the floral side of the oil feel full rather than flat.

Lavender buds: calm, in slow release

If you've read our guide to lavender in skincare, you already know why it's here. Lavender is the classic calming scent, the one people reach for at the end of the day. In Self Love Oil we use whole dried buds instead of just the essential oil, so the calm arrives gradually, woven through the rose and hibiscus rather than sitting on top of them.

Cinnamon sticks: the warm thread

A bottle of all florals can drift toward perfume. Cinnamon keeps it grounded. The whole bark stick releases a warm, spiced, faintly sweet note that runs underneath the flowers like a low hum. It's the part of the scent people can't quite name but always notice.

Because we use the whole stick rather than cinnamon essential oil, the effect stays gentle. It flavors the infusion the way one stick flavors a pot of cider: warmth, not heat.

Rose quartz: a keepsake, and we'll be honest about it

At the bottom of every bottle sits a small piece of rose quartz, a soft pink stone that people have associated with love and self-care for a very long time. We include it in that spirit and no other. It is a tradition and a keepsake, not an active ingredient. It doesn't change what the oil does for your skin, and we won't tell you otherwise.

What it does do is simpler: it makes the bottle feel like a gift, even when you bought it for yourself. When the oil is gone, rinse the stone and keep it. Plenty of customers do.

Why the botanicals settle, and the ritual of the shake

Real botanicals are heavier than oil, so between uses they drift to the bottom. That's not a flaw. It's proof nothing artificial is holding them in place. Before you pour, give the bottle a slow, gentle roll between your palms. The flowers lift and swirl, the infusion redistributes, and for a few seconds you're holding a tiny garden in glass.

We think that moment is part of the point. Warm a few drops between your hands, breathe in, and take your time working it into damp skin. If you're new to body oils, our guide on how to use body oil walks through the whole routine, from shower to sealed-in softness.

Questions people ask

Is it normal that things float in the bottle?

Completely normal. The rose buds, hibiscus, lavender, cinnamon, and rose quartz are meant to stay in the bottle, slowly infusing the jojoba oil for as long as you own it. Botanicals naturally drift and settle. Give the bottle a gentle tilt or roll before use and everything wakes back up.

What does the rose quartz do?

Honestly? It's a keepsake. Rose quartz is a stone long associated with self-love in tradition and folklore, and we include it in that spirit: a small, pretty reminder of what the ritual is for. It doesn't change what the oil does for your skin. The jojoba and botanicals handle that part.

Will the cinnamon make the oil feel hot on my skin?

No. We use whole cinnamon sticks, not cinnamon essential oil, so the bark lends only a soft, spiced note to the scent as it infuses. As with anything new, patch test on your inner arm for 24 to 48 hours before full use if you have sensitive skin.

How long does a 15ml bottle of Self Love Oil last?

Longer than you'd expect. Jojoba is a concentrated oil, and a few warmed drops cover hands, arms, or your face and neck. Used as a daily finishing oil rather than an all-over moisturizer, a bottle typically carries you through weeks of daily ritual.
